Today at Gamescom, Brendan “Playerunknown” Greene teased a new image of the upcoming desert map for Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. It includes a dense city center with dozens of buildings rising eight or more stories off the ground.

Members of the Bluehole development team have been working on the new maps for some time, primarily out of their new office in Madison, Wisconsin. Earlier work-in-progress shots have included a rough sketch of the entire map. The teaser image that Greene put on Twitter seems to be looking south down the main drag. In the foreground is the “secondary downtown” area; the background features the “primary downtown” and the “main square.”

The taller buildings will dramatically change the gameplay in this part of the map. Their proximity means that players in opposing buildings across streets and alleyways will be able to catch glimpses of one another, making them more prone to exchange fire between buildings.

The next update for Battlegrounds will be later this month. No word yet on when the desert map will go live.
